KANGEN WATER + THE ENVIRONMENT
Public concerns about tap-water quality have caused bottled water sales to soar over the past couple of decades. Ads and labels give us the perception of purity, with images of pristine glaciers and crystal-clear mountain springs. We now have "premium" bottled water. Some people are spending 10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they typically are for tap. Is it worth the cost—to you and the environment?
Bottled Water = Glorified Tap Water
Let's first talk about the fact that many water bottle companies are bottling tap water from drought-prone areas throughout the U.S. and then selling it back to people! The details of where and how bottling companies get their water are often quite unclear, but generally speaking, bottled water falls into two categories. The first is “spring water,” or groundwater that’s collected. About 55 percent of bottled water in the United States is "spring water", including Crystal Geyser and Arrowhead.
The other 45 percent comes from the municipal water supply, meaning that companies, including Aquafina and Dasani, simply treat tap water—the same stuff that comes out of your faucet at home—and bottle it up. (uhhhh?)
But regardless of whether companies bottle from springs or the tap, lots of them are using water in exactly the areas that need it most right now.
Used Once, Lasts Forever
Sixty million plastic bottles are disposed of in one day in the Unites States alone, and eighty percent of those bottles end up overflowing landfills. Each bottle can take up to one thousand years to decompose, leaking dangerous and harmful chemicals during the process.
More than meets the eye:
The production of plastic water bottles requires up to 17 million barrels of oil each year. This amount of oil has the ability to maintain up to one million cars fueled for an entire year. The water bottle production process utilizes the petroleum product polyethylene terephthalate (PET), this product requires an extremely large amount of fossil fuel to both make and transport. Furthermore, the manufacturing of a water bottle requires three times the amount of water needed to fill it. That large amount of water becomes unusable and is wasted due to its exposure to chemicals during the production process. Additionally, when comparing the energy needed to manufacture a bottle of water to the energy needed for tap water, bottles require up to 2000 times more energy. When you look at how many bottles are manufactured, that much energy can possibly power up to 190,000 homes.
To draw a clear and simple picture of just how many resources are being wasted, take a look at any one time use plastic bottle of water and imagine one fourth of it filled with oil. That is how much fossil fuel is required to produce it.
We live in a highly acidic environment. We are surrounded by pollutants of life and health that lead towards a greater problem, destruction of the ecosystems. Now, more than ever, it's imperative that we focus our time and energy on creating and advocating for products and companies that have a philosophy geared around environmental sustainability.
Bottled water is highly acidic and is surrounded by plastic which leaches toxins and chemicals.
Todays plastic pollution is worse than ever before. With our oceans, beaches, and land filling up with trash it is extremely important to take action and stop all single waste consumption.
Over 38 billion water bottles end up in our landfill every year. That’s over 2 million tons.
Over 73% of garbage found on beaches and in oceans worldwide comes from plastic and micro-plastic.
Every minute over 1 million plastic water bottles are bought around the globe.
Plastic releases harmful chemicals in the surrounding soil which seeps down into the surrounding water, ecosystems, and in turn pollutes what we drink, eat and bath or swim in.
Enagic was awarded the IEEU Environmental Award in 2004 because their machines have the ability to make such an impact on our environmental crisis
With 7 different types of water the K8 produces, Kangen water is an all in one solution for significantly decreasing single use plastic + chemical use in the home.
The creation of 2.5 acidic water directly from the machine helps to reduce the use of harmful detergents and other contaminants, therefore helping reduce river pollution and increase the accessibility to sustainable hygienic practices.
WATER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT
SUBSTANCE IN THE WORLD
BUT, NOT ALL WATER IS CREATED EQUAL
Sustainability plays a large role in what Enagic, and Kangen water, has to offer. Anything from cleaning oil based pesticides off of your produce to creating household cleaning products. Thanks to these wonderful machines, we are given the power to choose the pH of our water, allowing us to create a wide array of products, helping to reduce our consumption of single use plastics and give us more control over what we use around our home. Here is a list of 68 every day uses for your Kangen Water.
There are many opportunities out there in the world for all of us to take advantage of, but none quite as unique as what Enagic has to offer. Thanks to their patented compensation plan, integration of like minded communities, and overflowing wealth of information and opportunity for growth, Kangen Water as a business is a no brainer. This post will tell you all about the abundance that comes along with running your own business as well as the ins and outs to making it all happen.
Only 91 contaminants are regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act, a 35 year old federal law.
Some of the most common chemical contaminants in American drinking water alone include chloroform, lead, and arsenic, and pharmaceuticals. All of which are extremely dangerous to us in even the smallest amounts. This list also doesn’t include the unregulated substances that are also in our water supply such as: pesticides, disinfectant products, chemicals used in commerce, waterborne pathogens, and biological toxins. Kangen machines filter our tap water, and give us control of the minerals we decide to place back into the water we drink.
The Hunza people of Northern Pakistan routinely live to 120-140 years, in good health with virtually no cancer, degenerative disease, dental caries or bone decay. This has been traced as related to the water that they drink. Scientists in Japan quickly realized the numerous pollutants that were found in drinking water (pesticides, fertilizer, chlorine, etc.), most of all, the acid rain that was creating acidic drinking water (a no go for health). So became Enagic co. and the Kangen water machine. These beautiful machines were originally just distributed to hospitals before the technology became so sophisticated they were suited for in home use, and so now we have in home, medical grade, water ionizers.
Many companies are catching on to the alkaline lifestyle that is becoming more and more prevalent throughout the world. Unfortunately, the word "Alkaline" is just a marketing tactic that represents a higher number on the pH scale. This can easily be achieved by adding chemicals and additives into the water to portray a higher pH. Learn about the difference between "Alkalized" and "Alkaline" which will make you think twice before buying that higher priced bottled water cleverly advertised as "Alkaline".
